Flowtech awarded new Narrow Water Bridge contract
Flowtech have been awarded a contract for the prestigious new Narrow Water Bridge project in Ireland; a 195-metre cable-stayed bascule bridge that upon completion, will provide a link between County Down and County Louth.
This key piece of infrastructure, set to commence construction in Q3 of 2025, has been made possible by the Government’s Shared Island Fund and has been designed to accommodate vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
It will also feature a movable bascule span to allow maritime access to the Newry Canal and will connect Cornamucklagh near Omeath, Co Louth with Narrow Water near Warrenpoint, Co. Down.
This iconic project will create an important link between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, symbolising co-operation and connection between communities.
Flowtech’s major projects team completed the tender and secured the project to support with the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation (MEICA) elements, as well as any Hydraulics requirements, which will ensure the successful delivery of the project over the next 24 months.
Flowtech is proud to be working with a range of partners on this project including Louth County Council, Roughan & O'Donovan, H&H, Demako BV, BAM UK & Ireland and Aelterman BV.
